Dr. Frank's is Greatest Wine Producer Four Years in a Row!

Dr. Konstantin Frank Vinifera Wine Cellars has won the title of "Greatest Wine Producer" in the Atlantic Northeast region by Wine Report 2008, again! This is the fourth consecutive year that the winery has earned this prestigious title. In addition, Chateau Frank 1999 Blanc de Blancs has been named #1 in the category of "Most Exciting or Unusual Finds". The Blanc de Blancs is "the best sparkling wine I tasted from the Northeast a fitting tribute to the late Willy Frank." Dr. Frank's 2005 Riesling Reserve was also named #1 in the "Greatest Quality Wines" category.

Dr. Frank's Rieslings scored big in September's Wine Enthusiast magazine, just in time for the holidays. The Dry Riesling scored 89 points, "Crisp acidity and mineralty make this wine a great food cohort and attractive to anyone who favors a drier, more delicate style of Riesling. Apple, pear and spice come together in layers, and while refreshing, the wine also contains a lovely creaminess on the palate." The Semi Dry Riesling was awarded 88 points, "Ripe fruit balanced with a zingy backbone make this Semi Dry Riesling from Dr. Frank an overall winner for varied palates. Melon, pear and a hint of exotic floral flavors and aromas set this wine aside from standard whites of this type, and its structure - balanced and substantial without being heavy - further recommend it. Chilled and in an elegant glass, this is a fun and affordable wine with character."

Better Homes and Gardens' October magazine featured the Finger Lakes as a travel destination for a long weekend. Dr. Frank's Winery is one of the favorite spots to visit and the top region in the U.S. for Riesling. "Dr. Frank's, one of the region's best-known wineries, is part of the Keuka Lake Wine Trail, a group of several local winemakers who host events throughout the year."

The popular website, www.epicurious.com featured Dr. Frank's Rkatsiteli this fall in the article "What to Drink in September." Howard Goldberg writes a glowing review, "Dr. Konstantin Frank's Vinifera Wine Cellars, towering Rhine-like over Keuka Lake in upstate New York, specializes in Rkatsiteli, a dry white made from a winter-hardy vinifera grape widely planted in Russia. The 2006 version - deeply aromatic, awash in lemon-lime flavor, a pungent appetite-awakener - flies off merchants shelves."

Located on Keuka Lake a few miles north of Hammondsport, Dr. Frank's has long been associated with the New York wine revolution. Its founder, Dr. Konstantin Frank, was the first to cultivate the European vitis vinifera grapevines in the eastern United States, the varieties used in virtually all of the world's finest wines.
