Corning, NY Glass Sale 2008

CORNING, NY, April 1, 2008-- Corning’s Gaffer District invites glass enthusiasts to the “Crystal City” of Corning, NY, Friday, April 4th through the 6th, for the Corning, NY Glass Sale. The 6th annual one of a kind glass sale offers a chance to find all of the glass in the Gaffer District’s downtown on sale for three days only! Corning, NY is a city whose name is synonymous with glass. Our picturesque upstate NY town, nestled in the heart of Finger Lakes Wine Country, is home to a thriving glassmaking community featuring independent glass art studios and the world’s largest glass museum, the Corning Museum of Glass. Visitors will be treated to a unique opportunity for a weekend of seeing, buying and making glass. During this weekend only, visitors to Corning will find all of the glass in town on sale, with significant deals on hand-blown glass made by artists in the region, as well as factory and handmade glass from around the world

Exclusive pricing will be offered on Steuben Glass art glass and crystal at the Corning retail store location. Discounts on handmade glass creations at studios in Corning’s Gaffer District, such as Bacalles Glass Shop, The Glass Menagerie, Noslo Glass Studio, and Vitrix Hot Glass Studio. Sales at the Corning Museum of Glass, featuring a unique seven-boutique shop that spans the entire bottom floor of the museum and offers unique glass treasures from around the world.

Special pricing will be offered on glass and other glass related products at restaurants and businesses throughout Corning’s Gaffer District.

There will also be live glassmaking demonstrations in the downtown studios, as well as at the Hot Glass Show of the Corning Museum of Glass. Visitors to the Steuben store can watch one of the celebrated Steuben glass engravers showcase their skill.

In Corning’s Gaffer District, visitors always have the unique opportunity to try glassmaking themselves at the Make Your Own Glass at the Corning Museum of Glass or watch local artisans at various glass studios on historic Market Street.
