Farm-City Day organizers seeking volunteers

The Steuben County Farm-City Day Committee is seeking volunteers to help to organize this year's event, scheduled for Sept. 20.

With more than 1,600 people attending last year, more help is needed in planning for 2008. Volunteers are needed for children's activities, educational demonstrations, fundraising, publicity and more.

Farm-City Day is a one-day event held annually at a Steuben County farm. Farm-City Day is designed to be an educational, fun day on the farm where the public gets a first-hand, behind-the-scenes look at how a farm operates.

Anyone with an interest in promoting Steuben County agriculture is welcome and encouraged to attend the next planning meeting.

The next committee meeting is 1 p.m. March 19 in the South Conference Room of the Steuben County Office Building in Bath. If you are interested in helping plan Farm-City Day but are unable to attend this meeting, contact Jim Grace at Cornell Cooperative Extension at (607) 664-2316.
